About Us
Welcome
Welcome to Santa Lucia School. We are a TK-5th grade elementary school and part of the King City Union School District. We have approximately 650 students in attendance. Every year we try to make improvements to Santa Lucia's instructional program and environment. These improvements produce higher quality learning and increase academic performance by our students. We have a highly skilled and dedicated staff that works together daily to create a great community of learners. We provide students with a multitude of learning opportunities both in the classroom and with after school support programs and intervention teachers.
We know that to achieve educational excellence, we need parent support and participation in each student's educational program. Students, parents, and school staff must work together if we are to meet the needs of every child. At Santa Lucia we strive to develop strong connections with parents and parent leadership through school groups (English Language Advisory Committee, PTO, and School Site Council), schoolwide family activities, interactive educational field trips, and strong connections and partnerships with the King City and Monterey County Communities.
Santa Lucia is a Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) school, and we have a dedicated leadership Team that helps guide staff, students and the rest of our community toward safe, kind and responsible behaviors each day. PBIS is a systems approach for assisting school personnel in adopting and organizing evidence-based behavioral interventions into an integrated continuum that enhances academic and social behavior outcomes for all students. PBIS supports the success of ALL students. There is a focus on teaching and re-teaching expected behaviors, and supporting the positive decisions students make. At Santa Lucia School our students are SAFE, KIND and RESPONSIBLE. You will hear these three words emphasized throughout the year.
